Just... I love Karl

The new collection ‘Karl’ by the legend Karl Lagerfeld is now available. I have been counting down the days, hours and minutes until Karl Lagerfeld’s exclusive collection for Net-a-porter.com goes live so I just may get my hands on some of it! It comprises of everything you love about the man, from his trademark Cut Away Gloves and High Neck Collars.

Plus it contains those items Lagerfeld claims everyone should have (not 'the' cocktail dress or 5 inch heels...there aren't so many cocktails in life anymore?) but jeans, a jacket/blazer and a simple tee, although not necessarily with his face on. These 3 items irrelevant of gender and status, can be styled in so many ways. I love the idea of teaming the jeans and tee with my new Chelsea boots and a chunky knit jumper for a warm and cosy day look, swapping the jumper for the sequin jacket for a night out with cocktails?

All clothes above available from Net-A-Porter, where you will probably now find me choosing a few pieces from the collection!

I finish by saying that you should, no need/must check out this fantastic film produced by Net-a-Porter with Karl Lagerfeld!

Just.discovered: Ultra 10

We are ULTRA. A Sustainable Collective.
I have just discovered this unique fashion collection called Ultra 10. It is unique because it is a collection formed of 10 pieces that can create interchangeable styles/looks, and comes with a 365 days challenge.

Created by Tengku Jamidah and Anita Hawkins, who describe the collection as...
'a conscientious response to the overconsumption that is too often associated with fashion'

The entire collection is made from recycled and natural materials and once your 365 days are up, you can trade it in to be upcycled into something new.

I have already made my ethical fashion pledges for the year and just wish I was brave enough to accept  or even seriously consider attempting the challenge of wearing this for 365 days. Some days I feel I could thrive off such a challenge to create a new look everyday incorporating different pieces of this beautifully simple and modern collection into my look as I absolutely love this concept. But for today at least I remain a fainthearted fashion junkie.

Just.want: Anything that comes from Zara

Zara is fast becoming my favourite shop right now, with its healthy mix of simple basics, covetable handbags and key trend pieces. I find myself bypassing other high street stores before walking out of Zara a little bit poorer. Below are the items on my ever growing wish list which I hope to cross off very soon! Though I will need to restrain myself if I hope to stick to my 12 for 2012 challenge! But the LBD is a definite must have!
Clockwise from top left: Plaited Shopper; Dress with Asymmetrical Hem; Waxed Zip Trousers; Studio Drape Back Top; Leather Biker Jacket (sleeve detail); Mirror Pencil Heel Platforms.

Just.bought: Chelsea Boots

River Island Black Leather Strap Chelsea Boot
I seem to always find myself on a shoe mission. A pair of Chelsea boots has been on my wish list for some time now, always finding styles that were sold out in my size or just too damn expensive! Yet I just happened to walk into River Island on my lunch break and find these beauties sat there all by themselves. Seeing they were my size and only £20 it took me seconds to whisk them off the shelves and straight over to the till. With my new year challenge these boots are item number 1 of my 12 key pieces for 2012. I want to invest in items I truly love and create a wardrobe with a mix of these key pieces with ethical basics such as organic cotton tees etc.

Just.decided: 12 for 2012 Challenge

The challenge: to add only 12 key pieces to my wardrobe this year.

It sounds scary I know, but in a bid to be more ethical about my fashion consumption I have decided to try and survive the whole year by only investing in pieces I really love and will wear again and again. I'm not sure I can manage buying only 12 key pieces for the entire year, because after all firstly, I am a girl who loves to shop and secondly I am a fashion student! So to gently ease myself into this new ethical lifestyle and method of shopping, I am allowing myself to by basic items such as t-shirts, tanks and denim (I count denim as a basic right in my little world) from fairtrade brands or organic cotton designs etc. However if I do find I cannot survive on this alone (terrible I know), I will allow myself to shop at charity shops or buy things second hand, to hopefully restyle and recycle and help reduce the huge number of textiles that end up in landfill due to the nature of our 'fast fashion' obsession.
Katherine Hamnett tee - does what it says on the tin!
I hope to achieve all this in an effort to lower my previous consumer orientated life of previous years gone by as I now realise the impact fashion can have on our planet and the people who live on it!

Just.rocked: My New Bling

I got this amazing rock & roll ring from my mum for christmas! (Although my photography skills need improving so you can make out the rocking three rows of mini pyramid studs). So now i will be constantly rocking my amazing rock & roll ring with all my outfits as well as my new DKNY watch, which I have been 'umming' and 'ahring' about for as long as I can remember. I could not decide between this and the Michael Kors watch I kept seeing everywhere! Finally I decided or rather my mum did and what a great choice she made.
